George Welsby is a writer and co-founder of Surrounded Studios. George's short film 'Before The Party's Over' won the Los Angeles Film Awards for 'Best Drama' and was selected for multiple festivals including the LA Shorts International Film Festival. In 2026, George wrote and produced a series of branded content; the films have amassed over 1.5 million combined views.

George specialises in grounded and contemporary stories across film, television, literature, and advertising. He believes that to be a great writer, you have to love people: for all their flaws, shortcomings, heartbreaks and triumphs.

George has worked in the film industry in the art department on a range of productions. From American films such as Anaconda (2026) and Voltron (TBC), to Australian productions such as Upright (2022) and Deadloch S2 (2026). He is a scholarship graduate of Bond University, where he completed his Bachelor of Film and Television in 2021, winning the Executive Dean’s Award, receiving the First-In-Class Award for screenwriting, and the First-In Class Award for producing.
